Basic Measuring for Vertical Blinds
Face Fit
Width Measurement – When measuring for a blind on the face or
architrave of a window it is suggested that the blind width is taken
past the opening by approximately 100mm on each side of the window. The
reason for this is to ensure privacy at the sides of the window.
Drop
Measurement – Taken from the fitting height to the bottom of the
blades: note the bracket is always included in the drop measurement. If
the blind is ordered NAM (no allowances made) we will take 10mm off the
drop measurement only.
Recess Fit
Width Measurement – When measuring inside a reveal or recess the
width measurement should be taken at the top of the opening to ensure a
correct fit.
Drop Measurement – Taken vertically on both sides
and the center of the opening and the shortest measurement will be the
drop. When vertical blinds are ordered NAM (no allowances made) in a
recess we will deduct 10mm of both the width and drop.
Measuring into a Corner
When measuring into a corner it is important to measure the width hard into the corner for both blinds. One blind will then become the “Through” blind and the other the “Butt” blind. Be sure to indicate which blind is the “Through” blind and which is the “Butt” blind and the necessary deductions will be made at our office. It is suggested that controls are not placed in the corner of the window.
